Events
Breathing Roots weaves festivals, workshops, and learning journeys into its ecological work. Every gathering — from a riverside folk concert to a plantation walk — is designed to bring people closer to the Sundarbans and its communities.
Below are some of our key events. More detailed programmes and future dates will be added as they are announced.
Upcoming Highlight
The Bon Bibi & Dakshin Ray Festival 2026
28 January – 31 January 2026
Kalitala, Raimangal Riverbank, Hingalganj, Sundarbans
Four days on a shining riverbank where cyclone survivors restore forests by day and perform 400-year-old ballads by night. Bengal's living folk traditions meet the front lines of climate action, and the Sundarbans’ mystic mangroves join the songs of its people.
Ongoing & Seasonal Activities
Mangrove Plantation Cycles
Seasonal plantation drives during monsoon and post-monsoon windows, when salinity is lower and saplings have the best chance of survival.
Visitors and supporters are encouraged to join, plant, and learn alongside local communities.
Folk Music & Storytelling Evenings
Intimate performances featuring Bhatiali, Baul, Palagaan, and Bonbibi'r Palagaan, connecting visitors to the oral histories of the delta.
Workshops & Exchanges
School immersion visits, art-based climate education sessions, and exchanges between urban students and Sundarbans youth.
